G’day and welcome

My motorcycle ramble through the Americas has been a long time in the dreaming. Now, at 54, it is time make it a reality. I’ve been riding motorcycles most of my life, and even made a living writing about them, so the journey was always going to be on two wheels.

During 15-odd years in motorcycle journalism, I rode other people’s bikes in some amazing places around the globe. I’ve also done plenty of touring on my own bikes in Australia, including the Yamaha WR250R I’m riding on this trip.

For me, this journey will bring new frontiers and experiences. First time riding in South and Central America. First time living off the bike for an extended period. And a stack of border crossings.

The plan is simple: fly to Santiago, Chile, collect the WR in Valparaiso and head in the general direction of Ushuaia. After that, I have only the vaguest of ideas of where I’ll go next. Perfect.

Anyway, thanks for dropping by. Enjoy.
